A Safe Alternative To Medication

Take a nice deep breath in through your nose and exhale slowly through your mouth, as if you are blowing out a candle. Hypnosis for anxiety and stress is a great alternative to using many of the medications on the market for these issues. Often times you are prescribed a benzodiazepine such as Xanax or Valium or Klonopin. These drugs are very addictive and habit forming and often the relief is only temporary. Good news! Hypnosis is safe and effective and has no side effects. You control your mind and your body. Through the control panel of your mind you can make suggestions during hypnosis that will help change the way you view and process stress and anxiety.

The Science of Hypnosis

During hypnosis we deal with the unconscious mind. The suggestions are made and the unconscious mind receives the messages of what you want to change. This is said to take place in the limbic system. The limbic system is the portion of the brain that deals with three key functions: emotions, memories and arousal (or stimulation). The thalamus is located within the brainstem and is part of the pathway of information into the cerebrum, which is the section of the brain that is responsible for thinking and movement. The primary structures within the limbic system include the amygdala, hippocampus, thalamus, hypothalamus, basal ganglia, and cingulate gyrus. The amygdala is the emotion center of the brain, while the hippocampus plays an essential role in the formation of new memories about past experiences. Therefore, by working with the limbic system and making suggestions to the unconscious mind, the amygdala is “reprogrammed to accept the peace, calm and relaxing feelings you are worthy and deserving of receiving. Within 3 to 6 visits with a skilled hypnotherapist, you will have the tools to create new neural pathways in the brain to reduce your anxiety and stress and reset your emotional mechanism within the limbic system.
