Hypnosis can take the hurt out of pain—-Hypnosis for pain management is a wonderful tool when used. More than 100 million Americans experience chronic pain.

Chronic pain is defined as pain that has lasted for over six months and has no purpose. Back pain, Fibromyalgia, headaches and Phantom limb pain all fall into this category. The phenomenon of success that hypnosis produces is explained in research that has been done at Yale, Stanford and Harvard universities. The success is in the fact that suggestions given during hypnosis bypass the cortex of your brain, the thinking, and reasoning part of your brain and goes directly to the limbic endocrine system of the brain. The limbic system is the part of your brain that deals with your fears, memories and homeostasis (baseline for your body) and stress. The most astounding fact is that suggestions given during hypnosis for pain go directly to the limbic system from external sources and suggestions. Hypnosis is the most dramatic of the external sources.

How Does Hypnosis for Pain Work?

We all have a subconscious and conscious mind. The conscious mind is like RAM on your computer. It is program that acts and reacts to what is in front of you.

The subconscious mind has two jobs. The first is to maintain all internal functions such as your heart rate, breathing etc. The subconscious mind acts like the hard drive on your computer and it stores everything you have seen, heard or felt either good or bad is recorded within the subconscious mind. By using relaxing techniques and suggestions during hypnosis comfort is increased. Discomfort is decreased.

Almost 80% of my pain clients suffer from some form of anxiety or stress. Through hypnosis we will work together to reduce your stress and anxiety and increase your comfort. The benefits hypnosis have is to help you sleep better, reduce muscle tension which in turns increases your comfort and reduces your pain.

My clients report that their current medications seem more effective in reducing their pain and some have reported they have been able to reduce their pain medications by working with their doctor after they have completed my pain management hypnosis program.
