The longer I do hypnosis with clients all over the planet, I realize that in many cases regardless of the issue, the underlying issue is fear. Some clients do hypnosis for specific fears such as fear of flying, fear of heights, fear of driving, fear of spiders, fear of balloons, fear of success, fear of public speaking, and the list goes on and on. You may not have a specific fear, but underlying many habits or problems is fear.

Where Does Fear Come From?

We are born with two instinctive fears. 1) Fear of falling and 2) Fear of loud noises. All other fears are created in the subconscious by an experience or event that occurred to create a neural pathway that gets triggered by the subconscious and can also have a physical effect on the body. When you were a child you may have been afraid of the “bogey man” or any other representation of fear. Regardless of the name it is the fear we experience as children.

When we become adults, we have many adult versions of the bogey man that just seem to fester as generalized worry. Worry turns into the “what ifs” and before long you have catastrophized your worst thoughts into your worst fears which then turns into anxiety and stress.

Thank God, most of our worst fears never materialize into reality.

Phobia vs. Anxiety

There is a difference between a phobia and anxiety. A phobia is a physical and emotional response and goes on like a switch the instant the person is exposed to the trigger. This is known as a digital response. In contrast, anxiety is known as an auditory response. Anxiety builds like you are turning up the volume on a knob. It builds until it peaks. Often, you may not even know what you are anxious about because it is a generalized feeling of anxiety.

At the end of the day, it all boils down to fear. Fear of a moment that has not arrived and the creation of a movie in our head that we create. You may create the movie in your mind based on “what if scenarios” only to find out later your worst fear was actually FALSE EVIDENCE APPEARING REAL.

Hypnosis to Overcome Fear

Hypnosis works great for fears and anxiety because you get a chance to put the logical conscious mind on a pause while you reprogram your subconscious mind with a new neural pathway to react differently towards an old stimulus.

When you allow your subconscious mind during hypnosis to heal and correct any old wiring (neural pathways) you will begin to experience the freedom of living in the present moment.

Past thoughts can lead to depression while thoughts of the future can lead to anxiety. Both are moments that do not exist. The past is gone and can never be different than it was. Time to move on. The future moments do not exist yet because you are not there yet.

This often leads to anxious thoughts based on the false evidence you created in your mind. Therefore, the only moment filled with peace and tranquility is the present moment.

Try this: Inhale through your nose and exhale through your mouth slowly as if blowing out a candle. Pay attention to your breath. Notice what you see around you and what you hear and feel.

Hypnosis will help you relieve your fears and worries and teach you how to live in the present moment and enjoy the freedom you deserve.
