I am seeing a substantial increase in the amount of anxiety and stress in the Millennial population both while doing hypnosis live on the web with my Skype and Tele-Hypnosis Program and while doing hypnosis in Connecticut at my office in Cheshire.
Why Are Millennials Anxious?
The first reason is that parents of the Millennial Generation wanted to make things easier for their children then they had it growing up. As a result simple things have become overwhelming for these young adults. I recently had a case involving a 19 year old college student who was having unexpected panic attacks while away at school. His mother contacted me and asked me if while he was home from school if we could do the hypnosis in Connecticut while he was home. I suggested to his mom that he enroll in my hypnosis to reduce anxiety program. On our first hypnosis session the client stated that every time he would sit down to plan his schedule for next semester and he would become overwhelmed and start to sweat and have overwhelming panic and anxiety. We worked together using several different hypnosis techniques to increase his self-confidence and reduce his level of anxiety. He reported a drastic improvement when he returned home to plan his schedule. The second reason is that social media is a huge factor in why Millennials have anxiety. Recent studies have shown that by looking at your phone apps you are giving your brain an increase in dopamine. The same feel good chemical that comes from any addiction. When they need a boost of dopamine they only have to post a selfie or something on their snapchat, Instagram, twitter or Facebook and wait for the responses. The bigger issue comes when they get little to no response from their post. By checking their phone and getting responses the dopamine increases and any issues they may be having are gone at least temporarily similar to drugs or alcohol. This also creates an instant gratification feeling as well. They have not learned there are some things in life waiting for. In addition, the social pressure that is created from being on social media is something most other generations did not have to deal with when they were growing up.
The third reason is instant gratification. The Millennial Generation has been raised in a time of no waiting. You want to see a movie you have the ability to pull up the movie and watch it on your phone or any other device you have. You want something from Amazon.com you simply go on and it is on your door step the next day. You want music just go to ITunes and instantly download the song. There is no delayed gratification. Because of this when the situation occurs where there is waiting involved or a time delay these young people are ill prepared to hand it.

Now for the good news! Hypnosis has been around for over 6000 years and the despite technology, and differences in parenting styles, your subconscious mind is and will always be reprogrammable.
